What happens in a session?
Each session is unique and guided by your body’s wisdom. Through gentle touch and movement, I’ll gently guide you through somatic practices that help you slow down, connect with your body, and release stored tension or emotion. This may include breathwork, grounding, gentle movement, or guided awareness. The process is collaborative—you set the pace, and we follow what feels safe and supportive for you.
How will I feel after the session?
Everyone’s experience is different. Some people feel lighter, calmer, or more energized, while others may feel tender, tired, or reflective. It’s normal for emotions or sensations to continue shifting after the session as your nervous system integrates the work.
How many sessions should I do?
That depends on your goals. Some clients come for short-term support around a specific issue, while others choose ongoing sessions as part of their wellness and healing journey. We’ll check in together to see what feels right for you.
Will this fix me?
I often hear-will this work fix me? Somatic therapy isn’t about “fixing” you—because you’re not broken. Healing is a process of reconnecting with yourself, releasing what no longer serves you, and building tools to move through life with more ease. My role is to support and guide you in that process.
Yes. I encourage giving yourself space and gentleness afterward—whether that’s journaling, resting, walking in nature, or drinking water. I’ll often suggest simple practices you can use between sessions to support integration and keep your nervous system regulated.
Is there anything I can do after the session?
Wear something comfortable that allows you to move and breathe with ease.
What should I wear to a session?
No special preparation is required. Just come as you are. It can help to give yourself a few quiet minutes beforehand to slow down and arrive fully present.
Do I need to prepare before a session?
There will be moments of talking, but the focus is on connecting with your body rather than analyzing with your mind. It’s more about sensing and experiencing than problem-solving.
Is somatic therapy like talk therapy?
Yes, sometimes emotions arise as your body releases stored stress or trauma. This is a natural part of the healing process, and I’ll support you in moving through whatever comes up safely and gently.
Can somatic therapy bring up strong emotions?
No. Somatic therapy doesn’t involve manipulation of your body like massage. Instead, it’s a guided, body-centered process of awareness through gentle touch and movement.
